H-Town Showdown: #4 Zelko Bistro vs. #1 Pearland Coffee Roasters
Let the Semi Finals begin. We’re comparing apples and boulders here. This is not for the indecisive Ivans or inconclusive Imkas out there—some of whom were unable to make the tough call, previously. A stance must be taken. These are your champions of the EAT and DRINK brackets.
Our #4 seed and now EAT bracket champion, Zelko Bistro, took out Beaver’s, made quick work of the surprising #7 Tiny Boxwoods, and after all of that, slugged it out with the heavily favored #1 Hupcap Grill. And then there’s the #1 seed and now supreme commander in the DRINK bracket, Pearland Coffee Roasters. They’ve handily beaten up Anvil Bar & Refuge, the Harp, and Shoeshine Charlie’s Big Top Lounge, thanks in part to their rabid fan base. It sets up an epic showdown to see who will come out on top and make it to the final. Who’s it going to be? EAT or DRINK?
Seed #4: Zelko Bistro
When I think of the Heights, I think of the little bungalows that line half-streets. What better way to capture that comfortable persuasion than to adapt one a’ those old homes into an intimate restaurant? That’s exactly what Jamie Zelko and Jeb Stuart did with their bistro. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food is tremendous. It truly feels like it’s part of the neighborhood. Zelko Bistro can be your everyday eatery or the place you save for a special occasion. Versatile and delicious.
Seed #1: Pearland Coffee Roasters
Pearland Coffee Roasters has been around for just over a year and half. If you haven’t been—I’m sorry. They’re roasting fair-trade coffee beans, brewing delicious beverages, and putting the burbs on the map for more than a place of chain establishments. From those inside the loop, to Pearlanders that call themselves regulars, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone with an unkind word towards this thriving local shop. In fact, they’ve become so popular they’ve had to move into a larger space as of May, this year. While we haven’t hit the new digs just yet, it won’t be long before we do.
