Houston Helps: Houston Habitat for Humanity

Houston is a generous city. In unearthing and seeking out Houston’s untold story, we figured telling of its charitable nature needed to be part of this ever growing tale. From now on we’ll be bringing you charitable opportunities on a regular basis. We love this city. Love Houston. Help Houston.

Houston Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. They welcome people from all walks of life to join them as they build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Volunteers work side-by-side with their Family Partners who will live in the homes they build. As a volunteer you will experience the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.

They invite volunteers to help build wall frames and homes, assist in the office, work in the ReStore, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some volunteers dedicate several days per week and others spend a day each month working on projects or in the ReStore. As a volunteer for Houston Habitat, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All of these positions are a tremendous help that directly or indirectly result in the construction of simple, decent homes.
