Houston Helps: Kids’ Meals Houston

Houston is a generous city. In unearthing and seeking out Houston’s untold story, we figured telling of its charitable nature needed to be part of this ever growing tale. From now on we’ll be bringing you charitable opportunities on a regular basis. We love this city. Love Houston. Help Houston.

Kids’ Meals Houston
——

Kids’ Meals, Inc. is a meals on wheels program for pre-school aged children living in poverty. Kids’ Meals delivers 1,400 healthy meals directly to the doors of these hungry children, free of cost, Monday through Friday, year-round. In 2010, over 343,400 meals were delivered to children in need with the help of 9,000 volunteers and a staff of eight.

Kids’ Meals would not be able to operate with out the support of their loyal volunteers. Volunteers assist with meal preparations, assembling the lunches, delivering the meals, and sorting through donations as needed. If you are interested in volunteering with Kids’ Meals, please visit their website to learn how to get involved. Even children of any age are welcome to volunteer with Kids’ Meals. Volunteers must sign up ahead of time to participate.

Kids’ Meals needs your help to raise awareness and donations so we are able to ensure that innocent children do not go to bed hungry each night. It only cost the organization $1.50 to feed one child per day. These children depend on you.
