Houston Helps: The Bush Cares Project

Houston is a generous city. In unearthing and seeking out Houston’s untold story, we figured telling of its charitable nature needed to be part of this ever growing tale. That being said, here’s another opportunity to give back to this city. Love Houston. Help Houston.

The Bush Cares Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist veterans to transition from the military successfully. In one year, The Bush Cares Project’s Lotus Project for Women Veterans program has assisted over 50 homeless female veterans with children to find affordable housing in the Houston. In January 2012, The Lotus Project will begin its housing program that will offer 25 homeless, disabled female veterans a home with their children. The Lotus Project for Women Veterans housing program is the first all female veteran permanent housing in the City of Houston.
