Houston Helps: The Periwinkle Foundation

Houston is a generous city. In unearthing and seeking out Houston’s untold story, we figured telling of its charitable nature needed to be part of this ever growing tale. From now on we’ll be bringing you charitable opportunities on a regular basis. We love this city. Love Houston. Help Houston.

The Periwinkle Foundation

The Periwinkle Foundation develops and provides programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults, and families who are challenged by cancer and other life threatening illnesses and are cared for at Texas Children’s Hospital.

How you can help:
Volunteer for one of three camps (Camp Periwinkle, Camp Yolo, Family Camp) or they’re always in need of skilled volunteers for the areas listed below.

-Website Development
-Marketing and Communications Volunteers
-Event Volunteers
-Development and Sponsorship Assistance
-Event Committee Volunteers

Houstonians might donate or sponsor the Making A Mark® Art and Creative Writing Program or the Iron Sommelier Event. Another area open to sponsorship is the Cycle For Life Event—Houstonians have the option of starting a team for awareness and support.

Thanks so much for your support! We look forward to working with you guys on some upcoming volunteer projects! We share your passion for Houston and we are lucky enough work with so many Houston businesses and organizations that make this city great.

We are partial, but we make a huge difference for a lot of families and there is still a lot of work to do! The most exciting part about what we do is the variety of ways that we support patients during their treatment: Camps, Support Groups, Art Therapy, Creative Writing, etc… One of Houston’s best kept secrets is our publication The Splendid Review, a publication of children’s poetry created during treatment. Thanks again for the support and keep up the good work on your website! SLGT!
