HoustonTXSW: The Three-Ring Experience

HoustonTXSW hosted a three-ring circus at this years South By Southwest Interactive Conference at Republic Live in Austin, Texas on March 14, 2011. This event promoted Houston’s creative community, featuring fim, interactive/web and music.

The night opened with film trailer screenings of “Short Stitched“, “Stick ‘Em Up!“, and “Art Car: The Movie“. Alex Luster, director of “Stick ‘Em Up!” and Alfred Cervantes of the Houston Film Commission held a discussion about the film, which covers Houston’s street art scene from conception, creation, placement and – ultimately – removal by the city’s abatement enforcement. The film premier’s at River Oaks Theatre in Houston on April 7, 2011.

Republic Live is located a bit west of the rest of the SXSW festivities. It is a dark venue but I guess that comes in handy when you are screening movie trailers. The drink prices were a bit high but we still had a steady crowd of Houstonians and others.
