Listomania: Every Day We’re Shufflin’

Look, let’s face a fact. There aren’t nearly enough shuffle board tables in Houston. Earning your chops on the long table is a must for any seasoned drinker. There is a time and place for pool or darts or even Ms. Pacman, but shuffleboard is where the merit badge is earned for your koozie.

We have a couple spots below the jump, but we need your help. We need more options. Lead the way in the comments.

Little Woodrow’s (Midtown)
2306 Brazos St, Houston, TX 77006
Is it a garage? Is it a bar? It’s both, actually. Little Woodrow’s in Midtown is one of the best indoor/outdoor watering holes around if you’re looking for a good happy hour blended with a stellar view of our skyline. The shuffleboard table goes missed by many, tucked inside a corner near the Brazos St. entrance. But once found, it’s rarely vacant all night, as its close proximity to the bar prevents any searches for “another round” from disrupting that winning streak.

Lucky’s Pub
801 St. Emanuel, Houston, TX 77003
This is where the pre-game starts. With shuttles running to Minute Maid Park during Astros games and nothing but sports, sports, sports on every big screen, Lucky’s Pub tends to bring out that competitive spirit in its patrons. Skip the darts, the pool, and the arcade games and head right for the shuffleboard table under the Astros shrine. Trash talk is a requirement.

T-Bones Sports Pub
1971 West TC Jester, Houston, TX 77008
We love a good hearty dive bar. With an ultra greasy (and surprisingly tasty) bar menu and good ole fashioned pitcher specials, T-Bones is one of the rare places that you can catch a game on TV and never fear that you’ll be shushed for screaming too loudly at the refs. You can’t miss the shuffleboard table, due to its (perhaps too close) proximity to the restrooms. Ignore the noxious smells, grab another pitcher, and sand that table up.

Shoeshine Charlie’s Big Top Lounge
3714 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002
Way off in the back, behind the restrooms you’ll find a drinking gamers oasis. Foosball, Galaga (or whatever video game table that never works) and, of course, shuffle board are waiting for you. As long as you don’t mind the foot traffic in and out to the back area and the bathroom lines (which there are none, usually), you’ll be just fine chilling out.

Continental Club
3700 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002
You totally forgot that there was shuffle board here, didn’t you. Yep, back by the two pool tables and the seldom worked backroom bar, there’s a waxed wood surface that stretches out as far as the eye can see. Mostly because it’s dark back here. Don’t call for mommy, now. Wait until I start kicking your ass in the match.

Rudyard’s British Pub
2010 Waugh Drive, Houston, TX 77006
Rudz might be the first place you think of when I say “Houston shuffle board”, but I can’t give you a good reason why. It’s pretty much a haven for dart throwers with numerous boards throughout the pub. Yep, there’s a pool table as well. But let’s focus on the task at hand: Rudyard’s = Shuffle Board. Fin.

Pearl Bar
4216 Washington Avenue, Houston, TX 77007
Along with a healthy number of beer pong tables, Pearl Bar also boasts a classier game known as shuffle board. You might have heard about it. This entire article is about it. Anyway, they don’t have a pool table anymore, but if you’re down to slide around, Pearl Bar has you covered.

Marquis II
2631 Bissonet Street, Houston, TX 77005
Allegedly, one of our favorite college dives has gone under recent renovations. They claim to have shuffle board now. For all I know, Marquis II has always had shuffle board and I’ve just been too drunk to log that into my memory receptacles. They also say they have windows. Up is down. South is north. I won’t believe it until I see it. Pics or GTFO!!! Oh, they have photosOk then.

Seriously, we need more options. Leave a suggestion in the comments below.
