Regular Scoop of Houston 08.24.09

The Regular Scoop: Houston’s lack of zoning inspires this mash-up of events.

This week or the next: Alvin Community College Hosts a Blood Drive, Miles and Miles of Texas: The Lone Star State Through the Eyes of Buck Schiwetz, Detritus: Paintings & Sculptures by Angela Beloian & Jessica Moon Bernstein, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Houston Restaurant Fortnight Turned Threek, Anvil’s 100 Classic Cocktails That Everyone Should Try Before They Die, Local Jazz at Ouisie’s Table with Vocalist Tianna Hall & Pianist Richard Cruz, The Mckenzies Last Show (for a while), High Caliber Gun & Knife Show, Fruit Bats Live at Walters on Washington

It would seem that in this instantly-updating-randomly-informing-internet age, that figuring out what to do in Houston, would be simple. Sadly, it’s not, believe us, as we’ve perused, glanced, sniffed and combed the thousands of  things to experience in our great city, we’re overwhelmed almost to the point of not choosing any at all. So in an effort to keep our overly excited brains sane and our hunger for Houston satiated, here’s a handful or Scoop of things we found interesting. We left many things out, but seeing as how we are a two man show at this point, bear with us. If you have something to add, make a case for it in a comment or become a contributor.

Why is this listed: Cézanne to Picasso: Paintings from the David and Peggy Rockefeller Collection (Last Week To See This)? Isn’t it in New York?

James, you’re absolutely right. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Consider it corrected.
