Certain songs have a way of telling a story, that you’d swear was about someone you knew or some place you’d been—hell, sometimes it can feel like something you might’ve experienced yourself. For some of us here at the Loop Scoop, the songs of Mr. Robert Earl Keen portray some of the most vivid tales. No, none of us have an Aunt Kay that talks all about AA or a landlord willing to take the rent late in return for digging his skinny cows out of the mud out at his ol’ ranch, but there’s something in his everyman approach that speaks to us, just the same.

Plenty of you have already made plans to celebrate Ireland’s gift to the drinkers of the world. Actually, there are some that have already begun the festivities. To them, we bid Slainte and turn our attention to the undecided Loopsters.

Friends. Everybody loves them. They even had a nice run on TV. But if you ever really stop to think about it, your friends are weird, and they like weird shit that you don’t. It doesn’t end there, they always call and try to get you to do the weird shit with them. This week’s Procrastinator’s Plan pays homage to all the stuff that my friends do that I think is weird. Oh, and if you like to do this stuff, then you’re probably weird, too. Of course, you’ll probably think that spending my weekend dressed up as a Furry is weird, so don’t take it personally. To each, their own… right?

There’s a lot of stuff going on this weekend, but let’s face it, the Super Bowl is the big story. In Texas, Football is king, so what else could one possibly be doing this Sunday? If you still haven’t made plans to watch the Super Bowl, don’t fret, cause the MasterProcraster has got you covered. Whether you want to find a place to actually watch the game with your friends or you’re just looking for an excuse to drink copious amounts of alcohol and chow down on a never ending supply of hot wings – not that they are mutually exclusive, mind you – The Loop Scoop has the place for you.
