Being that it’s Monday and we tend to live for live music around here, we thought it would be prudent to share with you the tuneage happening around town this week. Oh, this is just a wee bit of what’s available. We need to update it a little more throughout the week, but these concerts should give you a good head start.

We’ve got another exciting week of live music ahead. A bunch of shows are coming into town hot and heavy. Just looking for a partner. Some eyes and ears to make love to. Stop being so conservative. Offer yourself up to some new music. It will be worth it.

I’ve only ever heard good things about G. Love and Special Sauce concerts. When all you get is tales of positive experiences, getting your hopes up is a natural occurrence. As show time approached, you could find Richard and I tossing back song titles we hoped to hear and stories we hoped to make our loved ones jealous for missing out. After an energetic set filled with bass solos, blasting harmonicas, the occasional rapping break down and a four-song encore that included two cover songs, we had enough material to brag about for the coming year.

By all accounts, Chris Gray Day was a fantastic success on Saturday, both in supporting the cause and in support for the local music scene. Hayes Carll was one of the last, major acts to be signed on to the bill before concert day came, so we thought we would jump in with some double duty in posting photos from his New Year’s Eve Eve show at House of Blues.

We’ve been a bit off our game this week. Don’t worry, we’re trying to get things back on track. How about a robust listing of events to check out this week. Yeah, yeah… We haven’t written anything about White Linen Night in the Heights, but you know about that already… don’t you?

What happens when something from the past is actually the future? Six years ago, Panic! at the Disco crashed into the music scene. The album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out struck an immediate, personal chord. That’s something I don’t have to validate to you, but for some reason I keep finding myself trying to explain my affections. Further back than that, Interventions and Lullabies (2001) by The Format (with lead singer Nate Reuss) found itself solidly in my rotation of everyday music.

We’ve been enjoying our revamped “What’d We Miss,” but we’re putting it through the ringer one more time. We’re separating out the staff photo of the week from the content of last week. It just didn’t seem right to have them all in the same post. So, let’s catch you up on some photos we didn’t have time to publish last week, along with some notes.

Photographer: Alexander
Context: The Toadies rocked Warehouse Live to it’s core last weekend.

My motivation for taking pictures at concerts has many roots, but I have to acknowledge a tendency towards introversion as a leading cause. My editor, however, is not satisfied with the few captions usually submitted with my favorite shots, and so, I began trying to recap (as opposed to reviewing) the shows in words as well as pictures.
Not coincidentally, this new found responsibility has made it increasingly difficult to remain detached when experiencing a performer’s music as it deeply affects a captive audience. Saturday’s line-up at the House of Blues – Liam Gerner, The Silent Comedy and, the headliner, Ryan Bingham – provided an example of a night where my documenting duties would have been trumped by the ability to be a casual observer. What do we have here? Events, you say? Stuff for the week and weekend? That can’t be. The Loop Scoop is all about sitting home alone cradling a bottle of Macallan. I suppose we’ll toss our morals aside for just one article. Next week we’ll be back with nothing at all. You better believe it.
If we need to know about an upcoming event leave a comment, tweet at us (@TheLoopScoop) or email us at contact@theloopscoop.com.
