Photo of the Week: YoYo Rodeo

Each year we remember the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo after it’s closing hours and almost immediately look forward to next year. Our photo of the week comes via sulla55 from the carnival on rodeo grounds.

‘Round and ’round she goes. Where she’ll stop, nobody knows (though I have a good guess that it will be right where it started).

The Week That Was 3.21.10

Here we are, embarking on yet another Monday and giving last week a look back. What wasn’t there to do? From St. Patrick’s Day to just enjoying the weekend’s cold front by racing 10 miles through Houston, it was easy to find something to do. There was so much to do, in fact, that we should have probably put together two of these articles. You live and you learn, I guess. Let’s jump into the meat of the matter. But, before I forget, a warm and hearty “happy birthday” to Anvil Bar & Refuge. Bobby and company celebrated their first year serving Houston last night.

The Procrastinator’s Plan 3.19.10

Since all of my friends are no longer talking to me after last weeks article, I’m going to be out looking for new ones this weekend… or just drinking away my sorrows until it no longer matters if I have friends or not. After Wednesday night, I don’t want to even hear about green beer for at least 363 days. Uh oh… did I just beat Keneally’s by launching the first St. Patty’s day countdown in Houston. BOOM goes the dynamite… swish goes the crack rock! With a wealth of things to do this weekend, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Unlike Paul, I’m not a vampire (thanks to Nate for noticing) and don’t mind getting some sun on this pasty skin of mine, so we’ll have a good mix of indoor and outdoor activities.

The Procrastinator’s Plan 3.12.10

Friends. Everybody loves them. They even had a nice run on TV. But if you ever really stop to think about it, your friends are weird, and they like weird shit that you don’t. It doesn’t end there, they always call and try to get you to do the weird shit with them. This week’s Procrastinator’s Plan pays homage to all the stuff that my friends do that I think is weird. Oh, and if you like to do this stuff, then you’re probably weird, too. Of course, you’ll probably think that spending my weekend dressed up as a Furry is weird, so don’t take it personally. To each, their own… right?

The Week That Was 2.28.10

By far, this was one of our busiest weeks yet. Several places/events had to be left off the this week’s edition of TWTW just because of sheer amount of stuff we took part in. It will come as no surprise that the week was initiated with a trip to Anvil. Of course, there was also the Rodeo Cookoff. But, with two obvious bookends, where did the rest of the week lead? Hint, one saves you money, another celebrates Dia De Los Muertos every day, a third is a proud proponent of taxidermy, and we even threw in a high school musical for good measure.

The Procrastinator’s Plan 2.26.10

With Rodeo Cook-Off this weekend, I’ll have my hands full. Being the benevolent soul that I am, I gathered some ideas for my fellow procrastinators whose weekend might not be quite so planned out for them.
