It’s been just over four months since lc-db graced the Photo of the Week section of this here site with an image. We were more than happy to welcome yet another. This lesson in symmetry courtesy of the Heights Bike Route near McKee St.

Well, it’s the end of the world as we know it, and we feel fine. (Didn’t see that one coming, did you?) We’ve heard that the earth dips off sharply into oblivion outside of the loop, so we guess that makes Houston our world. As the rapture approacheth for the umpteenth time in history, we’ve decided to stock up on canned goods, light a few candles and examine our place on the planet. Here’s what we’d do with our end of days:

Ic-db, not two weeks ago, brought us the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple, conjuring thoughts of Nirvana. Today it’s this colorful image of bluebonnets in bloom at the Wildflower Esplanade Seedings at T.C. Jester near Ella. April 5th marked the day the music died for avid grunge fans. What strange threads we weave.

Can you smell the incense in the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple? A homage to the Buddha? An act to clear the air of harmful spirits? My money says it ain’t pachouli, hippie. In any case, thanks for the contribution, ic-db.

This image by ic-db could easily have doubled as a Where’s Pauldo, as Pauldo has been known to frequent such a place. Now, not to take credit away from ic-db’s image or the skill by which it was shot, but this one makes the post on shear historic value—having once been a bank in the 1930’s the current owner saw a hidden gem and polished it up. The result, a compelling image of a pretty cool place.

This might be too easy for you, Loopters, but let me know exactly what/where is being shot in the image and I’ll talk to Pauldo about parting with more of his beloved shirts. NO GOOGLE.

Friday is here. Friday—the gateway to the weekend. ic-db’s image acts as a gateway or a path. The colors, lighting, and composition are richly compelling on the surface. Looking further: Where does it take us? Are we moving toward Houston or looking back? What are we leaving? Interpret it how you like. Me? I say it’s Friday and these tracks are taking me home; home to Houston.
