Moon Tower Inn: Beers and Brats with a Backyard Vibe

Is there a better way to spend your Saturday evening than hanging out on a friend’s back patio? With a few beers and brats on the grill the simple answer is no, there’s not a whole lot better to do on a Saturday. The sad part is, I live in an apartment with no backyard, leading me to find the next best thing, Moon Tower Inn.

The Stag’s Head Pub: London Upon Portsmouth Street

After a night teeming with crowds, cookers and everything endearing and annoying about Texas – the World Championship Barbeque Contest – my batteries were in need of recharging. The idea of some good, old fashioned pub therapy sounded like the perfect jolt. So, Paul and I decide to head for a pint or four at the cozy confines of the Stag’s Head Pub. We quickly pull into our parking space after turning into the lot off Portsmouth Street. The slight chill in the air that was comforting among the deep crowds of the rodeo is keeping the bar’s patrons from using of the large patio making the pub seem misleadingly desolate.

The Dubliner: Washington Avenue’s Perfect Pour

Washington Avenue has been undergoing the transition to the new “it” spot in Houston for the party-people. Every block a new structure has sprung up announcing itself in glitzy flashing lights and a line around the corner. Some have chosen to overhaul the old, buying out the established but decaying scene in an attempt to break into the market. The Dubliner is one such bar, choosing to sneak onto Washington without the confetti and fireworks.

The party at Union Bar and Lounge is impossible to miss on your left-hand side as you cross Dennis. The festivities are right up against the street, drinking, talking and dancing on the fenced in patio, red velvet leading the way to the entrance.
