NEWScoop: UH Fares Weather, Gunman Foreshadows, Texans Limp, Propellers Chop, and Fools Provoke

UH Fans are Less Fair Weather than Usual
Cougars, you lost. You were actually on ESPN and in all of the rigmarole, you forgot why you were there. It’s okay. This happens; consistently, to consistently better teams, Oklahoma and Ohio State come to mind. I have to admit as a native Houstonian, non-Cougar, I am impressed with the fact that you’re standing behind your team in spite of this hiccup. Good form. 12-1 is nothing to sneeze at… Visit KHOU for more.

Gunman’s Appearance at Funeral a Foreshadowing
A deceased man’s family and friends at a southeast Houston funeral service went from mourning to nutty as one of the party tried giving the dead “one for the road.” Those in attendance asked the man to leave, when it was discovered the man was going heel. Police were informed. He skinned that smoke wagon… Visit KHOU for more.

Texans Running Low on Cheeks to Turn
Mama always said that you should turn the other cheek if something bad happens to you. The Texans are plum out of cheeks. The top two quarterbacks are out for the season. Andre Johnson has already sat out six games. We have a rookie QB who has never started a game (and won his first time time out!). But in that win we lose our beast on the outside and a rookie punter. It’s not time to throw in the towel yet, but how many adversities is this team going to have to overcome in 2011… Visit MyFoxHouston for more.

Editors of the Lost Ark
In what we can only imagine was a gruesome scene, a Dallas-area woman walked into a plane propeller after a tour of some Christmas Lights. Thankfully the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The founder and editor of LoLo Magazine only lost a hand. If Indian Jones had been there, things would have been entirely different… Visit ABC13 for more.

Messing with the Wrong Man
On top of the list of people whom you shouldn’t eff with is a former Navy Seal. Two idiot men did the unthinkable in shooting and killing a dog. The owner of that canine was a war hero and former Navy Seal, Marcus Luttrell. If there was anyone capable of effectively taking the matter of justice into his own hands, it would be this man. Two men have since been convicted for murder of the man’s best friend. They should thank the lucky stars that Luttrell wasn’t the guy who got there first… Visit YourHoustonNews for more.

NEWScoop: Rain, ‘Merica, Dolphins, Street Art, and Misplaced Priorities

It Rained. It Poured. At Some Point I Snored.
Some people might have thought to dance in the rain. Others to sit on the porch and watch as the heavens finally cried. Me, I took cat naps on the couch in between an alternating rotation of Tim Burton films and anything Eddie Murphy-post Pluto Nash… Visit MyFoxHouston for more on this story.

Do You Think American Flags Grow on Trees?
Members of the Nassau Bay community placed a lot of flags in astronaut, Ron Garan’s front yard. Was this was a polite way of covering dead grass in his absence or an overt gesture of patriotism? There are commies everywhere, starving for the Stars and Stripes and they’ve concentrated on an American hero. You’re preaching to the choir… Visit ABC13 for more on this story.

Sealife is Outmatched by Fire Breathing Bulls
Texans improved to 2-0 as they overran the secondary of the 0-2 Miami Dolphins. For both teams, the records at this point in the season are familiar. Both hope to not repeat last year’s patterns. We’re holding our breaths… Visit KHOU for more.

Street Art on the Schools
Apparently street art is not a thing of abandoned buildings and railways. Local artists have been painting at Kashmere Gardens Elementary School (uh-oh, location known) in an effort to raise awareness for quality learning centers and child care… Visit ABC13 for more on this story.

Family Less Sacred than Plastic, Maybe on Par with Styrofoam
Houston area daughter steals mother’s credit card while her mother is in the hospital. She then goes on a shopping spree at Kohl’s. Wise beyond her years… Visit ABC13 for more.
