The Look Ahead: Aeros, Music for Rothko and Rodeo Bar-B-Que

It’s already Tuesday which means you’ve lost one day to the work monster already. Work monster hungry. Work monster devour your time. Work monster unsatisfied… eats up four moar days. Nomomomomom.

Ok, maybe I’ve lost it today. Let’s get back to our regularly scheduled programming and take a look ahead.

If we need to know about an upcoming event leave a comment, tweet at us (@TheLoopScoop) or email us at contact@theloopscoop.com.

Texas Stars Vs. Houston Aeros at Toyota Center

Where: Toyota Center [1510 Polk St., 77002]
When: Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:05PM
How much: From $15 to $72
Scoop’d from: @Houston_Aeros

Apparently, our Houston Aeros are in first place. Yet, that seems contradictory to the standings on the American Hockey League website… Maybe there’s some sort of super-secret inner-division structure we don’t know about. Standings don’t really matter, anyway. The Aeros are probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck entertainment values in this city.

Music for Rothko by Houston Chamber Choir and Da Camera

Where: The Rothko Chapel [1409 Sul Ross, 77006]
When: February 24th and 25th at 8:00PM and February 26th at 2:30PM
How much: $35
Scoop’d from: @DanceHunter, @DivergenceDiva @CBCarey @alexgardner

Tickets are sold out, but you still have a chance to experience “Music for Rothko” presented by Da Camera and the Houston Chamber Choir. If seats go un-claimed you will be able to purchase them at the door for $35. Names will be taken an hour before each performance. First come first serve. Ten minutes before showtime you’ll be able to snag one of the seats from late-comers and no-showers.

World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest

Where: Reliant Center [1 Reliant Park, 77054]
When: February 24th, 25th and 26th
How much: $15 Adult; $5 Children (12 and under)
Scoop’d from: The fact that everyone love rodeo cook-off.

Tickets to get in the door are only $15, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be getting the full experience. Hook up with some friends so that you can get into the real cook-off tents, preferably one sponsored by an alcohol. Free booze! We had the inside scoop with the Cougar Cookers last year. Who knows, maybe we’ll do it again in 2011.
