The Look Ahead: Blues in the Night, My Houston is Here and Tax the Wolf

Oh, yeah… It’s Monday!

The weekend hasn’t really worn off on me yet, even though I spent most of it indoors watching movies. Yes, I was a beacon of laziness from Saturday morning right on through Sunday evening. On the plus side, I was able to scratch “Watch Couples Retreat” off of my bucket list. On the minus side, I was able to scratch “Watch Couples Retreat” off my bucket list…

With two weeks left on its run, the cast of Blues in the Night from Ensemble Theatre will be taking to the train on Wednesday afternoon. A little bit of free entertainment and a whole lot of fun to be had on hump day if you happen to be using the Light Rail for your commute. If you’re not around for the free stuff, why not treat yourself to one of the remaining shows? Tickets range from $25 to $35 depending on the day/night you choose.

Do you know how you’re going to celebrate Houston’s 175 birthday? You can start by participating in the “Houston is Here” initiative. If you didn’t know about it until now, well it’s time to take your photo with a poster to show your Houston Love. Sarah Gish of Gish Creative recently sent us an email inviting us to take part in a group photo in front of River Oaks Theater. We’re extending that invitation to you, our readers, as well.

While your there, check out one of the films currently being shown. We highly recommend Midnight in Paris, a delightful romp (don’t I sound like a movie critic) if you’re a fan of the ex-pats of 1920s Paris.

Tax the Wolf w/ Twin Killers and The Manichean at Fitzgerald’s

Where: Fitzgerald’s – The Heights [2706 White Oak Dr., 77007]
When: Thursday, July 14th | Doors at 8PM
How much: $6 General Admission

You might have thought there was some down time between Summer Fest and ACL… Luckily for us, this is a prime time to get your music fix. We can’t count the number of shows that you need to catch. Dates for the rest of 2011 are quickly filling up. So, Thursday it’s time to catch up with some Houstonites. Do it. It’s an order.
