The Look Ahead: Candida, Schneider and Get Cultured

We’re dissolving two of our favorite columns, Your Regular Scoop of Houston and Procrastinator’s Plan, and giving them a new look this year. Gone is the single serving of events in Houston. Here is a five-times-a-week battery of things to do. We will publish a few events every morning. If we’ve missed something let us know with an email to contact@theloopscoop.com or tweet at us @TheLoopScoop.

Candida by George Bernard Shaw from Classical Theatre Company

Where: Talento Bilingue de Houston [333 South Jensen Dr., 77003]
When: Thursday January 27th, 7:30PM (Opening Night)
How much: $18 General Admission; $15 for Seniors; $8 Students
Scoop’d from: Facebook

Classical Theatre Company is at it again. Their newest production is a comedy written in 1894 by George Bernard Shaw, Candida. Sex, love, betrayal… Candida has it all. Actually, I have no idea what it “has”. A brief glimpse at wikipedia reveals it’s about a poet trying to lure the affections of a clergyman’s wife. LOVE TRIANGLE!

Bob Schneider at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck

Where: Upper Kirby [2425 Norfolk, 77098]
When: Friday, February 4th from 7:30PM and 9:30PM
How much: $25 (7:30PM show is sold out)
Scoop’d from: Interwebz

The first show might be sold out, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to find tickets. Perhaps offer a friend and fellow fan a favor in order to get that “extra ticket” they have been holding on to for someone special. Maybe even create your own ticket. It’s never too late to break into that forgery business you’ve always wanted to start.

Get Cultured (Launch Party)

Where: JCC Kaplan Center [5601 S. Braeswood Blvd., 77096]
When: Saturday, February 5th from 7:00PM to 11:00PM
How much: $10
Scoop’d from: Facebook

Wine. Cheese. Dance. Three key words you’re going to want to keep in mind for the “Get Cultured” launch party this weekend. The Koresh Dance Company will be on hand to entertain and amaze. Just look at those lithe bodies. Don’t look too hard if you have a significant other with you. That’s when the trouble starts.
