The Look Ahead: HoustonTXSW Kick-Off, The Walkmen and Books and Bellinis

It’s already Thursday. You’ve spent the last 72 hours complaining about your week and all of a sudden you’re on the doorstep of the weekend. Yes, I’m to blame just as much as anyone. The week has been particularly gritty for some reason. We shall prevail, Loopsters. We shall prevail.

If we need to know about an upcoming event leave a comment, tweet at us (@TheLoopScoop) or email us at

SXSW is going to have a little Houston flavor to it again this year. If you’re up for the event, HoustonTXSW: The Circus will be in full swing on Monday, March 14th. If you can’t wait that long, or just can’t manage to get that Monday off work, there will be plenty of events in Houston before the big day. They start today at The Fairview.

The Walkmen’s Lisbon was released back in September 2010 under Fat Possum Records who happen to host some of my favorite bands at the moment. Tonight is a special treat. Another great act coming in to play at Fitzgerald’s. I know we tend to focus on this music venue more than the rest lately. We are unapologetic. As soon as the rest start stepping up to the plate with our favorites, we’ll be there with bells on.

Books and Bellinis for Inprint Houston

Where: Downtown [540 Texas Ave., 77002]
When: Monday, March 7th at 7:00PM

Scoop’d from: Sarah

“Join Houston’s literati. Enjoy drink specials and savory appetizers, mingle with other unashamed readers and hip e-book aficionados, and celebrate the nerdy chic in you.”E-book aficionados? Count me in! Actually, one of our own will be in attendance on Monday. She’ll be the one slamming back bellinis and arguing about Bukowski.
