The Look Ahead: Luther & The Healers, Ukrainian Treasures, Street Salsa, and Steak Night

Good afternoon to all. To the chase we cut.

Is it just me? Or is that John Lithgow with a full head of hair?

Luther & The Healers Band Bio: “They are one of Houston’s longest running and hardest working blues bands. Established in 1991 and continuously performing upwards of 300 shows per year since, the band has been steadfastly dedicated to preserving the beautiful sounds of the blues in all of it’s colors in every imaginable venue with the singleminded goal of bringing joy to the people while remaining true to the integrity of the music. A Texas-based blues band doing their very best every night to uphold the tradition of one of Americas true artistic treasures, THE BLUES.” Is that reason enough to check them out at least once? I think so.

Ukraine has a long rich history dating all the way back to 5000 B.C. But Richard, we do too—that’s just a week before the first shot of the ‘Merican Revolution in Boston, right? Wrong. It’s two weeks before. In any case it’s enough millennia to have at least a few different historic periods – some of which are the Trypilian, Scythian, Hellenistic, and Roman. I’m anxious to see what they’ve got.

No partner. No experience. No cash. No Problemo. Strictly Street Salsa will only ask you to sign a waiver before taking part in the experience. Other than that, show up on time and take part in a dance that damn near begs for a hot summer evening.

Thursday Night is Steak Night at the Red Lion

Where: The Red Lion – [2316 S Shepherd Dr., 77019]

So Salsa outside, Ukraine in the museum, and Blues music aren’t your bag—how’s about just plain comfort? That’s what steak night is. Delicious beef, a dark noisy atmosphere where one could easily lose themselves from worries, and a fine selection of beers. If that isn’t God’s intended precursor to the weekend, I don’t know what is.
