The Look Ahead: Mamou, Hot Dogs, Freestyles and Recoveries
Time to get to the good stuff. We’ve got five more days of awesomely predicted weather ahead of us. You’ll have to forgive the compilers of this article. We’re a little outdoor-happy right now… especially for happy hours around town. Let’s get to the nitty gritty.
Happy Hour at The Big Mamou
Who knew what specials were to be had? Well, we do now that we caught their tweet. $2 Domestics and $3 Imports/Seasonals. Quite nice. And in this weather? Even better. Time to check it out if you didn’t take our word for it the first time.
Is The Big Mamou not your style? How about an outdoorsy evening with the folks in the food truck? Good Dog Hot Dogs will be out at Liberty Station tonight. Get yourself a haute dog. Wash it down with some ice cold beer. Enjoy the afternoon.
Speaking of food trucks: Have you voted for the Food Truck Fad or Townes van Zandt in our H-Town Showdown? You should. Like, right now.
We were directed to Houston Press for info, so we’ll do the same. Bun B hosts a night of freestyle battling on the Warehouse Live stage.
“Bun B will host (trill awesome), Trae will perform (deadly awesome), ESG will perform (freestyle royalty awesome), Alchemist will DJ a set (literature awesome), Baby Jae will DJ (Kracker Nutty awesome) and, above all else, IT IS FREE (money awesome).
The most important reason to go, though: The Battle.” – Shae Serrano, Houston Press
“In 2010, three of Houston’s leading providers of treatment for Chemical Dependency/ Substance Abuse Treatment joined together in celebration of National Recovery Month by planning and hosting the first ever Houston Run For Recovery.
This year will be another step down the happy road to destiny for Santa Maria Hostel, Extended Aftercare Inc, The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston, and the recovery community of Houston as we put on a bigger and better Run For Recovery on September 11, 2011.”
