The Look Ahead: Open Mic Night at the Duck, National Dance Day, and Spanish Rock at Dan’s Electro
Aha! It’s another slate of nights and days for us to fill with good… and, er, bad? Move on and see what’s approaching in the near future.
Open Mic at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck
Each brave soul will get 15 minutes in front of the crowd. Since 1990, the Duck has been host to such well respected musicians as Will LeBlanc, Lisa Morales, Michael Stroup and Wayne Wilkerson.
The Duck stage is open for you to present your original compositions or a favorite song made famous by someone else. Comedians, poets, jugglers and mimes also welcome.
National Dance Day at Houston Press
“Members of the Houston Dynamo Dance Squad will be there to help everyone run through the group dance before we film it. We’ll upload the film to Youtube as part of SYTYCD’s call for entries. Water and snacks will be on hand as well.
Practice at home and then show up on Saturday, July 30. Other than your dancing feet, all you have to bring is the white T-shirt we’re asking you to wear.” Easy enough, right?
On a side note, while the video above is educational, penance is in order for having put you through it.

If you haven’t been to Dan’s Electro at least once, this Saturday is as good a time as any. The Spanish Rock that’ll be taking over that night only promises to take the experience up a notch. Still uncertain? Check out what the Houston Press has to say about Changoman. Based on that tid bit, the viedo above and the music I’ve found on the internets, I’d bet my socks I’ll be checking out the show.
