The Look Ahead: Pale, Bernie’s at Sugarbaby’s, Les Sauvages Reservations, Live Music at The Mink, Hot Undies Run Registration
Thursday brings with it a fresh start. It also brings more events for us to stick our faces in to. If there’s one thing we Houstonians lurv, it’s putting things in our faces. You take that where you want to.
Pale at the Brewery Tap
As Alexander commented for the Pale CD Release Party back in May: “Pale was pitched to me as being influenced primarily by Muse and Radiohead. Claims to be a combination of this decade’s panty-dropper/stadium-rocker and an indie brainiac’s inner-muse awoke the cynic in me. But judging by the female attendees attire, lustful screams and cougar-with-a-hall-pass aggressiveness, Pale may have a solid line on a G-string collection that will exceed their guitar tech’s dreams.” How’s that for a preview of a live show?
This sounds like a pretty hard-to-beat combination. The exquisitely juicy burgers and crisp fries of Bernie’s and the rich cupcakes of Sugarbaby’s—damn, if I wasn’t already committed to a vegemite sandwich, I ‘d head down to Montrose myself.

“Last year’s run attracted over 500 Houston-area runners to Rice Village, all sporting their best looking underwear. This year we expect over 800 runners!
All proceeds from the run benefit The Children’s Tumor Foundation, a non-profit medical foundation dedicated to improving the health and well being of individuals and families affected by Neurofibromatoses (NF). Last year’s inaugural Hot Undies run raised approximately $9,000 for The Children’s Tumor Foundation and this year we hope to break $12,000.
The Hot Undies run will take place through Rice Village, beginning and ending at Brian O’Neill’s Traditional Irish Pub (5555 Morningside Drive, Houston, TX 77005). A pre-party begins at 11:30 and the run starts at 1 pm, routing through three party stops along the way. A post-run party will include beer, food, raffle prizes and awards for the best dressed teams and individuals. (But please, no thongs!)”
