The Look Ahead: Restaurant Crawl, Mates of State, World Cinema, Arcade Expo and Press Music Awards
Excuse me. Give me a second to get some composure. It’s been a while since I authored one of these articles. That being said, I’ve focused on some “long-term” events for you this afternoon. By that, I mean each event is for this weekend and beyond. Enjoy.
Stroll from Soma to Max’s Wine Dive to Les Grivals Kahve. The trio are set up in the perfect line for this restaurant crawl. The price of $39 seems well worth it. Even if the deal expires and you have to purchase the full priced $80 tickets, you still may want to jump on this bandwagon.
Mates of State w/ The Generationals at Fitzgerald’s
From our Just Up, Just Out and Just Missed (Music): Friends turned groupies pretty quickly the last time the Generationals rolled through town. Their light-as-helium tunes were infectious and nearly stole the show from the headliner. That might not happen with a band with a legion of ensconced fans like Mates of State, but don’t count it out. This is one of the best one-two punches I’ve seen on the upcoming calendar in a long time.
MFAH Spotlight on World Cinema: Korea – The Housemaid
From Spacetaker: “Eun-yi (Jeon Do-youn) is hired as a nanny in a lavish mansion by businessman Hoon (Lee Jung-jae) and his very pregnant wife (Seo Woo). When Eun-yi is seduced by Hoon, she becomes the unwitting victim in a series of traps laid by the women of the house—the wife, her villainous mother (Park Ji-young), and their seemingly loyal but increasingly bitter housekeeper (Yun Yeo-jong). Intensely erotic and fiendishly entertaining, The Housemaid builds to an unforgettable climax as Eun-yi must outwit them and escape their schemes to protect her sanity—and her life—from the vicious family.”

Buy your tickets now, figure out your schedule later. We’ll try to sort through all the bands playing and give some recommendations, but something tells us you won’t really care as long as you find your way to one of the venues. Or maybe you definitely want to check out the band that we’ve highlighted in the photo.
