The Look Ahead: Sideshow Tramps at Heights Live, As You Like It and Galveston Food & Wine

Monotony, monotony, monotony… STUFF TO DO!

Let these hours wash over you. The ones when you are yearning for life to begin. Let them resonate with your soul, because soon enough there will be too much to do and thou shalt be overwhelmed.

As always, if we need to know about an upcoming event leave a comment, tweet at us (@TheLoopScoop) or email us at contact@theloopscoop.com.

We’re big fans of the Sideshow Tramps around here. We’ve missed far too many Houston shows by the band lately, but we’re looking to amend that. On Friday night, the gypsybluespunk band will be playing for Heights Live at the Heights Presbyterian Church. Don’t miss it.

Classical Theatre Company is gearing up to begin the run of the last two shows in their season. They are doing rotating repertory productions of As You Like It and King Lear. The shows are an international collaboration between Prague Shakespeare Festival and Classical Theater Company. The cast is half European half American which carries with it a very fun dynamic between the actors and audience alike. Both productions are directed by Guy Roberts, whom we last saw acting as a one-man Hamlet for CTC (pictured above).

You can’t accuse us of never leaving the 610 Loop. We’ve done our fair share of travels outside our concrete confines. This weekend might present yet another chance to venture into the lesser known with the Galveston Island Food & Wine Festival. “With specialty food items, culinary events, sophisticated parties, and live musical entertainment, it is sure to be the event of the year. Enjoy wines from around the world paired with delicious local foods, and learn first-rate tips from popular chefs and renowned winemakers.” The Grand Tasting is on Saturday, but there will be events from Thursday on.
