The Look Ahead: The Avett Brothers, A Fistful of Soul, Art Car Festivities, and White Trash
Yippekayya! Weekend for all! As we begin figuring out our plans for the coming hours, I have the sneaking suspicion that this weekend will turn out to be a drainer. No matter. Gotta spend rest to make fun. Do some of these things—do them all.
Some days you wake up to find that something you used to hold dear to your heart is now shared by thousands more. That’s how the music business goes. The Avett Brothers started out just like everyone else, on independent labels trying gather up fans by the show-load. Now, they have one of the most talked about shows in Houston this weekend. Either way, it’s about the music and tonight at Verizon Wireless Theater, it will be coming at you full bore.
We’re talking about King Ghidorah, Bingo Rojo, and No Fun. Actually, based on what we could find for these names, we’re not sure what to expect. Even the mighty google couldn’t find these stealthy artists. We’ll call this one a test of faith. At the very least, it’s a night of Hip Hop and Soul at the Mink. Win and win at the win.

How could we forget the Orange Show’s Art Car Parade? This weekend is one of Houston’s biggest. Houstonians pick one weekend every year to wear their freak flags on their sleeves cars. You see them driving or parked around all year long, but for one solid day of parading entertainment all the art cars get together for their procession. You don’t want to miss it.
