The Look Ahead: Veterans Day, The Noise Tour, PROJECT Trio, Art Car: The Movie and Dynamo Celebration

This week has already begun to confuse us. It’s Wednesday, correct? If not, we apologize.

There are a lot of events on the horizon that we’re looking forward to, but we kick things off with a reminder to salute those that have defended this fine country over the years. The Veterans Day Parade is right around the corner. Read on.

Houston Salutes American Heroes: Veterans Day Parade

-
Where: Downtown — Theater District [Find Free Parking Here (pdf)]
When: Friday, November 11th | Ceremony at 10:00AM; Parade at 11:30PM
How much: Free
Scoop’d from: HoustonTX.gov

Please join the people of Houston to celebrate our nation’s military veterans. If you work downtown, I don’t see why you wouldn’t find your way to the Theater district for the celebration and subsequent parade. The rest of us non-downtowners, might find it a little more difficult, but it’s a minimal sacrifice compared to that of the people that have defended our country.

Meet and Greet: Mayday Parade & We Are The In Crowd at Cactus Music

-

The Noise Tour is rolling through town tonight, but before that kicks off you have an opportunity to meet a couple of the headliners at Cactus Music. Unfortunately, they won’t be playing any of their tunes before the show at House of Blues. Meeting the men behind the mic will prove to be just as exciting. It’s all free. Make the most of it.

The Noise Tour feat. Mayday Parade, We Are The In Crowd, You Me at Six, There for Tomorrow and The Make

-

When: Wednesday, November 9th | Doors at 6:00PM

Talk about making the most of your money. The Noise Tour brings five premium bands to Houston for $20. Mayday Parade, the tour’s headliner, is touring in support of their eponymous second album released earlier this year. If you’re adventurous enough, the open doors at 6:00PM will surely bring you a few surprises. At least get there for You Me at Six’s set.  The song above should be enough to convince you of that.

From the press release — “PROJECT Trio is said to be pushing the boundaries of classical music with a mix of jazz, hip-hop and rock performing to enthusiastic crowds of all ages around the world. Acclaim for the Trio and its member’s runs the gamut from Downbeat Magazine, which exclaims PROJECT Trio is ‘packed with musicianship, joy and surprise’ to the New York Times, which calls beat-boxing flutist Greg Pattillo ‘the best in the world at what he does.’”

We recommend checking out this “Dr. Nick” video as well as the multiple beatbox flute (yes… really!) videos for “Inspector Gadget” and “Mario Bros.” to whet your appetite.
