Ticket Giveaway: Deadbeat Darling at Continental Club

It only took one listen to “Surf India” for me to realize that my Friday night would be booked. With an opening riff reminiscent of the Blue Album, Deadbeat Darling brings some grit to the surf sound that only a four-piece from NYC can muster. They’re familiar enough with Houston Street, but tomorrow night, 8/3/12, Manhattan will be but a distant blip in their rearview.

Deadbeat Darling released their second album, Angel’s Share, in early April of this year (you can sample it in full on their website). At first listen, it sounds mellow and soulful, but filled with that nervous energy that explodes on stage. We’ll have a better idea once Monday rolls around and we can digest a review of the show.

This is Deadbeat Darling’s second trip to the Bayou City this year and to mark the affair we’re offering two pairs of tickets for the Friday night event. They will be joined on the Continental Club stage by Frontier Brothers and Deep Ella with The Picture Book (who will be putting on the usual free Friday happy hour). And if our word hasn’t done enough to convince you to try to win some tickets, take their PR’s:

“With a bit of a downtown swagger and post-indie charm, their sound weaves together rock, surf and dub in a unique musical tapestry… er, a gritty tapestry. Their live show: Sweaty barrage of unrestrained energy and mischievous sway that leaves you wanting more… a little more sweat and addictive energy. Perhaps one more shot of whiskey, or two.

Now that’s something that we at The Loop Scoop want to experience.

Show starts at 9PM at Continental Club

Tell us about your favorite live music experience of 2012 for a chance to win tickets. Make sure to use a valid email address so we can notify you as a winner.

I don’t know if it’ll count but.. I flew to Williamsburg NY to attend a sold out Bowery ballroom show, drove to Austin to catch them at sxsw, and then caught their first continental club performance last year. Oh and again at warehouse live in march this year. All performances were gorgeously epic and we always have a great time!

string trio performing (with a live drummer) a late set for a very artistic/interesting crowd – some of whom were folks staying for the music, after the nudist’s meeting which had happened earlier, at the same venue… viva houston!!!
