What’d We Miss: 11.6.11 Weekly Reader

It was all music all the time last week. Not that we consider it a bad thing. There were concerts to cover and review and honestly that makes the week go by a lot faster for some of us (*cough*Paul*cough*). At least the audio/visual Houston experience wasn’t lacking.

Loopster Live: Buzzfest XXVII by Alexander
Bush, Staind, Switchfoot… Buzzfest might be a little predictable when it comes to the bands that they sign, but they know what they’re doing and who their crowd is.

Staff Notes and Photos: Half the Non-Stop to Dubai by Stephan
Your friendly, neighborhood sultan is going to be straight up PISSED when he finds out about this. Emirates is moving one of their non-stop to Dubai flights from Intercontinental to DFW. You’ve been warned, wouldbe oil moguls.

Street Art of the Week: Scarecrow, Dual-Style
It wouldn’t be going out on a limb to say that Halloween is the favorite day of most street artists. It’s all about anonymity, right? Well, Dual was celebrating. We say that because he placed this dummy, pumpkin-headed “Dual” to trick the authorities.

Loopster Live: Beirut at Warehouse Live by Paul
Street artists weren’t the only Halloween celebrants. Paul rung in the holiday the only way he wanted to: dedicating a night to old-world horn blasts from Beirut.

Where’s Pauldo (ep. 88)
Do you think it’s Sweet Lola’s? Do you? Well… you’re probably right. Make that, you’re most definitely correct.

Listomania: Houston Makes the Movies by Richard
We’re a little disappointed that nobody called us out for not including Tin Cup and Arlington Road in this list of movies that were filmed in Houston. Other than that, we’re still asking for suggestions of movies we overlooked in our search for city cameos.

Photo of the Week: All Saints at Bohemeo’s
Write to Eat snapped this on the front stoop of Bohemeo’s. Some have not forgotten that Halloween is actually the lead up to an important Catholic day.

Ticket Giveaway: Mates of State w/ The Generationals
We gave away tickets. You forgot to comment. Herb won.

Loopster Live: The Voodoo Experience 2011 by Alexander
Eschewing the review, Alexander made the most of his time in the pit. From Snoop Dogg to Boots Electric to Soundgarden, The Voodoo Experience provided a well-rounded musical experience and a number of great photos from our Head Concert Photographer.
