What’d We Miss: 4.10.11 Weekly Reader

We’ve been publishing a lot more content lately making it much more difficult for our weekly readers to catch up. Well, fret no more. We’re going to start publishing a new column on Mondays to help you keep up with our Houston domination. Welcome to the new “What’d We Miss.”

This will be included in our new column. We’ll call it our staff photo of the week. We feel bad each time we choose from one of our own for either the “Street Art of the Week” or “Photo of the Week,” so we’ll reserve this spot for ourselves choosing from our various photo exploits.

Photographer: Paul
Context: The youngest Sublime (with Rome) fan that ever was.

On to the content…

2011 Shell Houston Open: A Photo Essay by Paul
For the second straight year, The Loop Scoop was welcomed to Redstone Golf Club to capture the happenings at the Shell Houston Open. Phil Mickelson took home the trophy, but failed to defend his green jacket at the masters this weekend.

Yia-Yia’s Roadster Grill: The Gyro Hero by Marc
Mediterranean food has become a passion for Marc lately. This time it drove him out to Bellaire to delight himself with a gyro from Yia-Yia’s. Who knows where next time will be… According to a comment from Bite Me Houston, it should be Biba’s.

Loopster Live: Scissor Sisters at Warehouse Live by Alexander
“Spectacle” seems to be the best word to describe the concert. According to Alexander, Warehouse Live wasn’t a large enough venue to handle Scissor Sisters. “Choreography, passion, costume changes – the Sisters brought it.”

Street Art of the Week: Garro Gateway
This week’s photo came from Shannon Reiswig and featured a wheat paste by the artist Garro.

Houston Helps: The Periwinkle Foundation
Learn about the organization that develops artistic and creative programming for the children of Texas Children’s Hospital. There are many ways for you to volunteer and get involved. Not to mention, their bi-annual event, Iron Sommelier, is tomorrow.

H-Town Showdown: #1 Riding out a Hurricane vs. #8 Antiquing in The Heights/Montrose
The H-Town Showdown has brought us some interesting match-ups. This one is the most random so far… That’s because we’ve finally broken into the random quarter of the bracket. Check it out and vote (and don’t forget to vote on the other match-ups as well).

Where’s Pauldo (ep. 58)
Solved!

Loopster Live: The Music Week in Review4.7.11 by Alexander
Alexander had a busy week covering music for The Loop Scoop. He wrote a nice round-up of everything he attended including the Big Dance Concert Series which brought in a bunch of fantastic photos of Kings of Leon, Sublime with Rome, Panic at the Disco and The Hold Steady.

Photo of the Week: In Bloom
We managed to stretch out a reference to Nirvana somehow… but that was secondary to the photo by ic-db.

Dater Unknown: First, Breathe. Second, Laugh. by Dater Unknown
One of our anonymous daters brought her boyfriend to meet the family. When the niece blames a toot on the new arrival, hilarity ensues.

Loopster Live: Duran Duran at Warehouse Live by Alexander
Warehouse Live didn’t grant us access to photograph the show on Wednesday night, but that doesn’t mean that Alex couldn’t write about it. Checking out one of the 80s’ most prominent bands in a smaller, club atmosphere was worth buying at ticket to say the least.
