What’d We Miss: 7.10.11 Weekly Reader

Dear Readers,

Hello once again and welcome back to the hallowed grounds of the interpipes. We missed you. Perhaps you have missed us. Hopefully in the next two weeks we’ll be back in tip-top shape to bring you the latest and greatest of Houston. We’ve definitely been slacking, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t cover some cool information in the last short, holiday week.

Take a peek:

Street Art of the Week: Astros Rainbow
On the walls of Alva Graphics, you can find this new-ish addition to Houston’s street art by Machine. An homage to the old Astros jersey, this vaulted itself to one of our favorite pieces overnight.

Houston Helps: Houston Food Bank and the Loop Group by Marc
Every time we run a “Houston Helps” we try to follow up and volunteer our services. Desk jockeys got skillz, yo. Especially when it comes to sorting Capri Suns. Check out our experience at the Houston Food Bank and make an experience of your own. Volunteer.

Verticality: Class 3 – It’s Time to Pole by Stacy
When we said Stacy would have a series on the new Verticality Pole Fitness studio, we weren’t kidding. Here she is with her second account of her ongoing classes. Seems this whole pole dancing thing is quite the workout.

Where’s Pauldo (ep. 71)
It seems that ramy_v and Phong both get points for solving last week’s Pauldo. One point for punctuality and one for specificity. That’s how we do things around here. However, Episode 70 remains impossible. What gives?

Photo of the Week: This is Our Independence Week
By laanba, this photo gives you a taste of what you may have missed if you weren’t in Houston for the Fourth of July fireworks. Feel free to “ooh” and “aah.”

Music Week in Review: July 8th, 2011 by Alexander and Paul
None of the concerts from last week got their own column, but we tried to make up for it with a compilation. Five concerts, one article. That’s called productivity. Check out some photos and notes from Foster the People, RX Bandits, Steve Earle, Robert Ellis and Natasha Bedingfield.
