What’d We Miss: 9.25.11 Weekly Reader

Get your week started off the right way… Relive last week. That’s how it works. We can’t move forward until we understand the past. Here are all of the items that you might have missed on The Loop Scoop last week. Do with them what you will.

Listomania: Drinking on Empty, We’ve All Been There
After a night out on the town (on an empty tank) we were reminded of the trials and tribulations of drinking without first eating. Our staff shared some of its stories with you. I’m sure you have a few of your own.

Staff Notes and Photos: Sideshow Tramps on the Side
We should always double up our coverage of Houston bands. We end up walking away with some great photos. After Paul reviewed the CD release party of Sideshow Tramps, Alexander nailed the point home with a few more photos from the fantastic night.

H-Town Showdown: #7 Lights in the Heights vs. #4 Rodeo Cook-Off
Two different events that couldn’t be more unique, Lights in the Heights and Rodeo Cook-Off do battle in our Showdown series. Which one is your favorite? So far, Lights in the Heights is running away with the vote.

Street Art of the Week: Smileless
If Shreddi’s yeti doesn’t provide a great metaphor for your 9-to-5 then you must have a much more enjoyable work experience than we do. This photo by HadesInSpades sums up last week and will probably do the same for this week.

Pride and Pestilence: Austin City Limits 2011
It’s an annual pilgrimage for many in Texas. Austin City Limits celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and Paul was there to witness it. Besides feeling old, he found a few really great things to be excited about and a few lows as well. Were you there?

Where’s Pauldo (ep. 82)
UNSOLVED! It gives us great pleasure when we’re able to stump the plebes.

H-Town Showdown: #1 Riding Out a Hurricane vs. #3 Houston Transit
This one seems like a no-brainer, but Houston traffic is doing a pretty good job of sticking with the number one seed so far. Is this going to be a blow out of epic proportions or will the underdog continue to give Riding Out a Hurricane a run for its money?
